Nameplates
- Black on Brass (medium wear pieces, e.g. diary & journal covers, portfolios, pilot logbook covers (including wings / initials plates), suitable for simple "black & white" logos)
- Stainless Steel (medium & high wear pieces, e.g. ladies wallets, portfolios, book covers)
- Must be riveted on before piece is sewn / completed
- Engraved off site using specialist machines
- Blank plates can not be engraved after piece is completed
Nameplates are available in Black on Brass and Stainless Steel.
They are individually machine engraved, each using a different machine, by the engraver that I contract. It can take some time for the engraving as the engraver schedules my nameplates amongst numerous tasks undertaken on each machine. Then there is the time for the nameplate to be sent to me at Sparrowhawk.
I punch holes in the leather to hand rivet on each nameplate before stitching the piece. The nameplates can not be riveted on after the piece is made, and the engraving machines do not allow for pieces to be premade with a blank nameplate and engraved after.

I use mirror finish, stainless steel nameplates, which resist scratching and are suitable for high wear items such as ladies wallets, as well as medium wear such as book covers & portfolios.
These stainless steel nameplates pre cut for me and the overall size is limited to 55 mms x 15 mm. Letters are limited to 12 letters (including spaces).

The black on brass nameplates I use are suitable for medium wear items such as diary covers, pilot logbook covers and portfolios.
The size of the nameplates is 70 mms wide x 18.5mm high, which works in proportion with the diary covers, journal covers, portfolios & logbook covers I make.
Letters are limited to 12 letters (including spaces). As per the "Inground Pools" portfolio above, you may prefer to have your company name engaved in a standard font, or have your company logo above your name.
